Trapped by your perception of me

I am in a million prisons,

Each door bearing a different label
Woman, mother, aspergirl, unequal partner, wife, activist
The longer I waited –

the more trapped I became

Every name is eating away at me
Taking pieces from each part of me
Not one single title to tell you my name
I can’t even begin to tell you who I am
I can’t tell you where I was
I have forgotten what I am
I have forgotten where I was going
The pain is unidentifiable – I can’t find its location
I can’t find the pain centre to stifle the throb
I know the cause
But not the antidote
